State of Appalachia Conference Becomes Faith and Community in Appalachia Conference March 24 – 25, 2023
After a five-year hiatus, the Faith and Community in Appalachia Conference is back! Formerly known as the State of Appalachia Conference, the Faith and Community in Appalachia Conference provides a place for reflection on the issues facing Appalachia today, opportunities for networking, and a time to renew our spirits.
Our keynote speaker, Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan of the Ohio Council of Churches, sets the tone for the conference, presenting on “Seeking the Beloved Community in Appalachia.” Two large group sessions follow: “Polarization or Reconciliation: Two Paths for Appalachia examines the challenges we face, and “Understanding and Embracing Our Shared Values: Bridging the Gap Between Evangelical and Mainline Churches.” looks at our opportunities for working together. Our workshops this year include Building Trust in Appalachia, Building Resilience in Appalachia, and Deliberative Dialogue.
